Session One
Understanding British Culture: Navigating Traditions, Communication, and Classroom Dynamics
In this training on British culture and its presence in schools, teachers will explore key aspects of British values, traditions, and communication styles, as well as how these influence both society and classroom dynamics. They will learn about the British emphasis on politeness, respect, and fairness, as well as the nation’s preference for indirect communication, understatement, and humor. Teachers will also gain tools to understand culture shock and manage their own adjustment process, building confidence in navigating British cultural norms. By the end of the session, educators will have a deeper understanding of British culture as a whole and how it shapes school environments, equipping them to effectively support students and themselves in adapting to this cultural context.

Session Two
Navigating the UK Education System: Key Insights and Teaching Terminology
This session is designed to provide educators and education professionals new to the UK system with a clear understanding of its structure, phases, and common terminology. This training will equip international teachers with the key insights needed to confidently navigate our academy settings, communicate effectively with colleagues, and support students in line with national expectations and practices.
By the end of this training, participants will have a clear understanding of the different types of schools in the UK, including academies and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), and how they operate within the broader education system. Learners will be able to identify key stages, age ranges, and educational phases, and will become familiar with essential teaching terminology, including commonly used acronyms related to assessment, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), behaviour management, and pastoral care. The training will also cover key funding initiatives such as Pupil Premium, and will gain an overview of Ofsted in its role in school inspections.

Session Three
Behaviour and Attitudes in UK Schools: Trends, Challenges, and Effective Strategies for Success
In this session we will breakdown and ensure understanding of the government guidance Behaviour in Schools Guidance and highlight any potential differences there may be between this country and other practices around the world. We will discuss the staff code of conduct in relation to behaviour and safeguarding students in the UK.
We will look at and break down our behaviour and conduct policies from our schools and look at the importance of positive reinforcement and relationship building. We will consider effective behaviour management techniques that work well in UK classrooms across different phases and ages.

Session Four
An Introduction to Teaching & Learning in the UK
This session will provide an in-depth exploration of highly effective teaching in the UK, guided by the KGA Principles of Teaching and the key research that informs this framework. We will examine how insights from cognitive science shape teaching strategies across our schools, ensuring that students not only learn but retain and apply their knowledge over time.
We will also explore the KGA approach to curriculum design and implementation, outlining expectations for lesson delivery and resourcing to support high-quality teaching and learning.

Session Five
Teaching & Learning: The KGA Core
This session will provide an introduction to the KGA Core - 8 teaching techniques that aim to maximise attention and form the basis of quality first teaching. They are used by all teachers across all of our schools and will enable you to embed core routines in your classroom from the very first day.
We will also spend some time exploring adaptive and responsive teaching techniques to support all learners, including learners with SEND.

Session Six
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
In this session we will explore the SEND Code of Practice and what our responsibilities are as classroom teachers relating to SEND. We will breakdown acronyms used and understand the different types of SEND needs we are likely to be supporting within the mainstream classroom. We will cover teaching strategies to support learners with SEND and look at the support systems in place as well as key documentation we use to understand needs. We will signpost to further learning opportunities.

Your Teaching Career in the UK: QTS, ECT, and Professional Development Explained
This session will provide teachers with a comprehensive overview of the requirements to gain QTS in the UK and their ongoing professional development.It will demystify the process of acquiring QTS, detailing the various pathways and the application process. Moving beyond QTS, the session will delve into the ECT process and support systems in place. It will emphasize the importance of ongoing professional development. Through interactive discussions, participants will gain invaluable insights into the UK teaching landscape, fostering confidence and equipping them with the tools necessary to successfully support them in their career.

Session Nine
Reflections on Term 1
This session will provide teachers with an opportunity to reflect on their first term of teaching in the UK, discussing both challenges and successes in a supportive and collaborative environment. Through guided reflection, participants will consider their professional growth, classroom experiences, and key lessons learned so far. Discussion-based sharing will allow teachers to exchange insights, strategies, and practical solutions for common challenges, such as managing behaviour, adapting to UK assessment methods, and understanding school expectations. By engaging in open dialogue with peers and experienced educators, attendees will gain valuable perspectives, build confidence, and leave with actionable ideas to enhance their teaching practice in the next term.
